Mountain Highlands

The initial design of this artwork was conceived and created
by the artist. In the creation of this piece, only wood has
been used, without any painting, coloring, or applied
pigments. Every visible tone and color is entirely natural,
derived from the inherent character, texture, and grain of
the wood itself. The composition emerges directly from the
natural patterns discovered within the material.
A defining characteristic of this artwork is that the landscape was revealed from
the grain of a single piece of wood and brought to life through minimal
intervention. The pine tree was carefully cut by hand using a coping saw, with the
interior wood removed to create negative space. As a result, this section is hollow,
while its inner edges have been darkened to enhance depth and visual contrast.
The shadows throughout the composition were created by carefully burning the
The artwork is primarily crafted from a single piece of Walnut wood. Elements of
Sour orange wood have been incorporated, while Maple wood has been used to
create the river flowing through the landscape. It is emphasized once again that no
paint, coloring, or artificial pigments have been employed in any part of the work.
Because the grain and pattern of wood are as unique as a human fingerprint, no
two pieces can ever be identical. For this reason, it may be said that this artwork
is inherently unique and cannot be reproduced in exactly the same form.
Through the harmony of natural material, discovered imagery, and restrained
craftsmanship, Mountain Highlands captures the quiet grandeur of mountainous
landscapes, where forests, rivers, and distant peaks emerge organically from the
living character of the wood itself.
