The Sun Behind the Clouds

The initial design of this artwork was created by the artist himself.

In the creation of this artwork, only wood has been used, without any painting, coloring, or artificial treatment. All visible colors are the natural and inherent colors of the wood itself, and the composition derives solely from the authentic and intrinsic grain pattern of the material.

A distinctive feature of this work is that the image was discovered within the natural grain of a single piece of wood and brought forth with minimal intervention. The camels and the camel driver were cut using a coping saw, and the wood within their outlines was removed, leaving these areas hollow. The inner edges were then blackened. The shadows were created by carefully scorching the surface of the wood.

This artwork incorporates only a single solid piece of alder wood, along with a small amount of bitter orange wood. It is once again emphasized that no painting or coloring of any kind has been applied in the making of this work.

Since the grain and pattern of wood are entirely unique—much like a human fingerprint—it may be said that this artwork is truly one of a kind and cannot be replicated under any circumstanc
