Description
Island is a quiet composition inspired by the stillness of distant shores, created entirely from the natural character of wood.
No paint, ink, or artificial pigments have been used. Every visible tone originates solely from the wood’s inherent color and unique grain.
The landscape was discovered within a single piece of maple wood and carefully revealed with minimal intervention. The boat and palm trees were hand-cut using a scroll saw, creating hollow negative spaces whose inner edges were blackened to enhance depth. The shadows were formed exclusively through controlled burning of the wood surface.
Crafted from Maple and Barberry wood, the artwork celebrates the individuality of natural material. Since every wood grain is as unique as a fingerprint, this piece is genuinely one of a kind and cannot be authentically reproduced.
